Lighting of a villa

Lighting of a villa is more than just illuminating spaces; it’s about crafting an ambiance that reflects elegance, comfort, and functionality.

In villa design, thoughtful lighting enhances architectural features, sets the mood, and seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor living areas.

Whether you’re designing a seaside retreat or a countryside residence, understanding the principles of villa lighting is essential to create a harmonious and inviting environment.

In this article, we will write about what to have in consideration when we light up a space like a seaside villa.

Choose always the right luminaries.

Given that the villa will be used mostly as holiday home, lighting should be minimalist and relaxing, to create a warm atmosphere.

It is essential to have in consideration lighting layers according to space.

How do I light my living room?

For living rooms, if it is a big space we might use a chandelier that fits the design of the interior, which contributes to the ambient lighting of the room.

Depending on the size of the space, we can use some beautiful tricks of light like a fine-track light system, minimalist and elegant spotlights, or some strip led.

These formulas are known when we want to add more light in space.

But we also want to have different layers of light to create different scenes for different moments of the day and night.

Everything happens in the kitchen.

The kitchen, a place where we do a lot of things during the day and evenings, we think more of task lighting.

Ceiling spotlights are the best elements of light you can find for this case, complemented by elegant pendants over the kitchen island.

What about bedrooms?

Here we have a mixture of ambient and task lighting since bedrooms considere more as a place to get comfortable, read something before sleep, or even sometimes, a place to work.

We can use luminaries like magnetic encased track lights, spotlights, bedside pendants, or table lamps for the tasks.

Warm light is important in the bedrooms to prepare your body for a nice and quiet sleep.

Natural light to wake up usually comes from the window, but we might implement a layer of natural light too, just for the mornings, when more light is needed.

How can you create a glaring and satisfying outdoor view at night?

Usually, we prefer to position small outdoor spotlights near the walls or the trees and shrubs around the yard.

Low light effects reflect and don’t disturb the eyes, creating a perfect ambiance and a beautiful view of the facade.

Also, it reflects and gives the yard the needed brightness to enjoy the evenings.

Small bollards through the paths can be added to have a clear view when walking too.

When lighting a seaside villa,

It is also necessary to think about outdoor lighting.

You can’t have a well-illuminated inside villa while the outside is always dark.

Also, for the seaside, the isolation (IP) and aluminum body of the luminaires are very important because of the humidity and salt.

What remains in our minds from an environment where we spend an unforgettable experience are feelings.
